New single “I Still Call Australia Home”

Adopted Aussie Steve Clisby today released his brand new recording of the iconic Peter Allen classic I Still Call Australia Home to celebrate diversity and tolerance for Australia Day 2016.

Clisby, the seasoned musician who shot to TV fame on The Voice at the age of 67 and stole millions of Australian hearts, said today: “I wanted to give back to the incredible supporters I have in Australia. I’m originally from California, but have lived in this beautiful country for over 16 years now – I fell in love with it the moment I arrived. I definitely call Australia my home and being able to do this now is very powerful for me.”

Peter Allen’s iconic anthem – famously adopted by Qantas as the song that draws Australians back home each year – is given a heartfelt and soulful new twist by Clisby, who proudly gained his citizenship in 2013.

To him it’s a song that celebrates the diversity that now exists throughout Australia.
“I wanted to express in the deepest, most personal way how much I – and all those who, like me have made Australia their adopted home – love and appreciate this beautiful land,” he said.

“Australia is a new place, a young place, and that means there’s room to grow. It’s a place you might make mistakes, but it’s a place where you can also make a difference if you want to, without anything to get in your way.”

Producer Michael Tan said: “Steve Clisby’s new version of I Still Call Australia Home celebrates Australia’s growing cultural diversity by bringing its meaning to a wider audience. It’s a logical progression for Steve following his success on The Voice and the way Australian audiences have embraced his journey.”

Clisby added: “Most of all, it’s about gratitude for the openness I found here. This was something my mother, Ruth, always found so amazing. It speaks about the effort it took to get here, the experiences I’ve had here, and the love I have been shown as people opened their arms.”

“Today I wanted to give back for that incredible support.”

It’s All Good…

To All My Friends,

Well, now that The Voice season 2 has come to a close, it’s time for new horizons. It was a unique and challenging experience that I wouldn’t have missed for the world.

Steve ClisbyThere are a multitude of new things on the horizon, including some very exciting live gigs that everyone has been asking us to consider. More on that later…

In the mean time, there’s a new version of my Steve Clisby app available for iPhone and Android. It’s been updated and will now alert you when I have a new gig planned, or a new song release. Please check it out here…

We have our first warm-up gig coming up on the 4th of July at The Bourbon in Kings Cross. We’ll also be putting up a new and easy way to buy my music on the home page of steveclisby.com You’ll have the option to buy tracks as singles, digital albums or physical CDs.

As I’ve mentioned before, there are some exciting things in the works performance-wise and a few new social media surprises.

Last, but certainly not least, is my gorgeous teammate on The Voice, Celia Pavey. She’s a winner whichever way you look at it and it’s been an outstanding experience watching her grow as an artist on the show.

As for me, it’s been awe-inspiring being on the show. Working with Delta was a dream, she was truly amazing. I didn’t know what to expect when I was selected in the blind auditions but the love and warmth I’ve received from everyone: audience, artists and crew, is really overwhelming, so THANK YOU ALL.

We’re just getting started so stay tuned, enjoy the music and stay peaceful.

One love,

Steve.

Couldn’t get to sleep last nght. Too many thoughts floating around in my head. Too many people to thank and to many kind words to return. This is still, even now such a special moment to share with ALL of you. This may be ‘reality TV’ but the reality was everyone including me was singing from the heart last night and I loved every second of it. I can only say that it’s a blessing and a privilege to perform for you all. Delta, you have been an angel throughout and that love and light you talk about shines through everything that you do! Thank you everyone!!!
